Safety Equipment Auditors Course

It will soon become a requirement of all AS affiliated clubs to under take Safety Equipment Audits for their vessels under taking racing. At the moment only cats 1-3 required an external audit. Moving forward a qualified Club Equipment Auditor (CEA’s) will be required to undertake an audit of boats holding a Cat 4 – 7 certificates. To ensure that RBYC are able to cover the needs of vessels being audited we require a team of auditors and we are looking for members to put their hands up and get qualified. Australian Sailing are offering a free online course to obtain the CEA qualification. It is simple to undertake and should only take 3 hrs to complete.

The idea candidates for this are those with a sailing back ground that are keen to help skippers ensure they are meeting the requirements of AS. The onus is still on the skipper who must first complete a self audit in preparation for the auditor, the auditors are their to confirm that the boat is compliant and guide skippers on what they may need to do to become compliant.

If you are keen to become a RBYC safety auditor please contact Colin on [email protected] and see the information below
