The sailors' club

In a premier location alongside Brighton Pier on picturesque Port Phillip, Royal Brighton Yacht Club is one of Melbourne’s first Clubs, with a proud history stretching back to its’ establishment in 1875. The Club is firmly dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing with active programs in racing, cruising, women’s, youth and junior sailing. From absolute beginners to experienced sailors, or if you merely wish to enjoy the Club’s hospitality and facilities on a social basis, you are warmly invited to join Royal Brighton Yacht Club.

Senior membership

Icebergers Day Pass

RBYC is delighted to introduce a new Icebergers Day Pass. This pass is the perfect opportunity to dip your toes in the water as the weather improves to see if you fancy joining the Brighton RBYC Icebergers. The Icebergers are an iconic part of the swimming landscape at Brighton and a valued group of our membership base at RBYC.

  • The pass allows for 20 swims over a one year period*
  • Should participants decide to become an RBYC member the $200 day pass fee will be credited to new RBYC Icebergers membership**
  • Participants to complete RBYC membership form including swimming history and gain RBYC Icebergers swimming competency approval so an induction to the Brighton Icebergers can be completed
  • Payment via RBYC office for direct deposit or credit card
  • A red coloured name tag will be provided (by office) and to be used by participant on Icebergers swimming board to track swims

How to apply

  1. Fill out the appropriate application form. 
  2. Proposer and seconder – have two senior members propose and second your application. If you don’t know any senior members, we will help you find someone to support your application. (New Icebergers require a Senior Member who is also part of the Iceberger group to propose and second their application form)
  3. Ratification – your membership application will be displayed on the notice board and your nomination ratified at the next General Committee meeting.
  4. New members will be emailed a welcome pack.
  5. Fees and keys collection – after General Committee approve your application for membership, you will be sent an invoice. After payment, your key(s) will be ready to collect at the Club’s main reception
