Royal Brighton Yacht Club celebrated another outstanding season at our 2026 Presentation Night on Friday, recognising the achievements of sailors, volunteers and members who have made the past year so successful.
The evening brought together over 100 members from across all areas to celebrate season aggregate winners, championship results and the many volunteers whose dedication keeps our club thriving. Congratulations to every trophy winner and competitor who contributed to another memorable year of sailing. A full list of aggregate winners can be seen below
A number of special awards highlighted the evening, recognising excellence both on and off the water.
Adam Stevenson Memorial Youth Encouragement Award
Congratulations to Mark Gyimesi, whose enthusiasm, leadership and commitment to youth sailing made him a deserving recipient of this year’s award. Mark represented RBYC in the Stonehaven Cup, helping secure victory in 2025 and a second-place finish in 2026. As an active 29er sailor and instructor, he has become a wonderful role model for our younger sailors through his positive attitude and willingness to mentor others. (Image 1)

His Australian Championship results of first in 2025 and second in 2026, combined with his long-standing contribution to growing the class, continue to inspire sailors both at RBYC and around Australia.
J. Herlein Award – Yachtsperson of the Year
Congratulations to Michael O’Brien, our 2026 Yachtsperson of the Year. Michael enjoyed another remarkable season, claiming multiple Masters titles across the ILCA and Aero classes.
