Cerberus Trophy Review

Early in the week the forecast was for wet cold conditions, and predictions were that the post-race barbecue would be in the members bar. 13 boats discovered how fickle Melbourne’s weather can be. The sun shone, there was a light 6-10 knot breeze allowing all boats to finish, and it was perfect for the barbecue on the hard stand. The wind started very light from the west and it was a bit of a challenge beating to the gate. JAMHU rounded first followed by Etchells Playing around 3. Both hoisted kites immediately – very shy but necessary to get any decent pace. When the top mark was rounded it was almost hard on, though some hoisted again immediately as the wind backed a little. The race was won on PHS by Playing Around 3. Peter Coleman’s Farr 1020 Farcical was out for the first time and achieved a second. It was a perfect day for the after-race barbecue. A wonderful day all round.
