Sailing Lifts Your Spirits season wrap up 2022/2023

We are a start up charity who take healthcare workers and first responders out for 2hr sailing experiences – to help boost their mental wellbeing.

Our pilot program has been successfully running out of RBYC on Thursday evenings for 3 seasons now.

Last Thursday was the final sailing event for this season and we reached our goal of 100 guests and volunteers at a single event. It was great to see that many smiling faces on the hardstand. After our 2hr sail we headed back to the club for a well-received BBQ and much laughter on the terrace. It’s amazing how going out for a sail really does lift everyone’s spirits and create a sense of camaraderie.

Thanks to our amazing team of volunteers and boat owners

We’ve had 617 registrations to date of which we are very proud.

This is only possible thanks to our amazing team of volunteers:

  • 14 boat owners
  • 50 experienced sailors
  • 20 shore crew

What our guests say

Through word of mouth our events are becoming incredibly popular with our guests, who see it as a wonderful way to reduce the pressure they face daily working as nurses, paramedics, police or fire fighters .

Is Sailing Lifts Your Spirits making a difference?  The testimonials and feedback show that we definitely are!

“I never thought that I would get to experience sailing like this”

“I had a really bad day today and nearly didn’t show up.  I am so glad I did.  It has put a smile back on my face”
