We have an event filled weekend coming up. On Friday evening, Dan Lyon will be speaking at the May Guest Speaker Dinner (all welcome), and on Saturday and Sunday we have a Cruise in Company for an overnight stay at Wyndham Harbour.
In early April, Dan Lyon (“Diver Dan”) delivered Tai Tam across the Tasman, from RBYC to Opua New Zealand. Dan will be speaking at the monthly dinner on May 15th, and will touch on several topics, focusing on route planning, conditions at sea in the Tasman and some aspects of heavy weather sailing as they approached New Zealand. The last leg of this delivery had Tai Tam sailing down the NE coast of New Zealand from North Cape to Opua just as Cyclone Vaianu was bearing down on the North Island, so Dan will have some interesting experiences to relate!
As usual, after gathering in the Members Bar for the weekly announcements and members’ draw at 7:00pm, please join us in the Bayview Room for the dinner and talk. All are welcome to come along for a convivial evening in the company of other sailors.
