Cruising News 17/2

This coming Friday evening, 20th February, we will be kicking off this years Guest Speaker Dinner Program with Rob Hurrell & his crew sharing the story of Aquacadabra’s participation in the Sail to Indonesia Rally, sailing east to west across Indonesia over four months last year.  So, after a several month break, book now an come along for a convivial evening with friends and fellow sailors, sharing a meal, and hearing of Aquacadabra’s adventures and escapades.

Indonesia isn’t just a destination. It’s over 17,000 islands, spectacular scenery, active volcanoes, remote reefs, and some of the most welcoming & challenging sailing you’ll find anywhere in the world

Covering over 3,500 nautical miles, Aquacadabra’s voyage began with a 2,300nm passage up Australia’s east coast to Horn Island, followed by cruising through some of the most remote and spectacular parts of Indonesia from June to October. This presentation will cover:

  • Rally preparation and yacht readiness
  • Provisioning and logistics for extended cruising
  • Customs, immigration, and clearance realities
  • Navigation, weather, and seasonal planning
  • Anchorages, cultures, and cruising highlights
  • Lessons learned from four months in Indonesian waters
