Having recently returned from sailing from Townsville down to Airlie Beach I’ve been reflecting about just how much enjoyment we get from our club in a variety of ways. I would never have had the courage to become part of the boat owning syndicate for Rampallion if not for the friendship and advice I’ve received from fellow club members. It been such fun and I’ve learnt so much as well as having the opportunity to sail in some great regattas in Queensland.
On the home front, it’s great to see activity at our club increasing again with the largest fleet in many years taking to the water for opening day, learn to sail classes for kids and adults proving popular and an increase in functions.
The Social Sub-committee has injected new energy into club events, and I’ve enjoyed being their General Committee representative supporting fresh ideas for the year ahead including the Viking theme that was embraced by so many members on Opening Day.
Icebergers, and other aquatic members are very active and I’m looking forward to getting back into the water again soon (albeit with a wetsuit on) once the mud and debris clears after the recent floods.
I’m looking forward to twilights and weekend racing during the season and look forward to seeing you soon.
Whatever your interests I encourage you to get involved. The more you put into your club the more you will get out of it!
