GC Report from Vice Commodore
Dear Members,
As winter draws to a close, spring and the new sailing season are just around the corner. Several important Club events are taking place over the next month, and it would be wonderful to see members take part in as many of them as possible.
In September, we will hold elections for Flag Officers and the General Committee, followed by the Annual General Meeting towards the end of the month. I encourage all eligible members to take part in the election, and all members to consider attending the AGM. Voting and attending the AGM are important ways for members to have a say in the Club’s direction, understand key decisions, and support the volunteers who help guide the Club’s future.
Opening Day on Saturday 3rd October 2026 will kick-start the new sailing season. It is a fun day where boats and crews dress to a theme for the Sail Past, followed by a short, casual race and food and entertainment back on shore. Opening Day is a club-wide celebration, and we would love our Aquatic, Gym and Social members to be involved as well. Please contact the Sailing Office if you would like to get out on the water.
Lastly, as warmer weather returns and you may be preparing to use your boat again, please take the time to run through your systems and complete your safety checks to ensure your vessel is seaworthy. Winter inactivity can cause fuel degradation, battery drainage and deterioration in safety gear. Please check that your flares are up to date, your PFDs are in good condition, and all seacocks are operational and watertight. If you need help, please reach out to the wider marina community or the Sailing Office.
