Over the past few weeks, we have had some fantastic sailing conditions here in Port Phillip, while others have headed north to enjoy more tropical conditions sailing in Airlie Beach Race Week and this week enjoying racing in Hamilton Island Race Week.
There are several RBYC boats and crews currently sailing at Hamiton Island. Rampallion (Geoff Adams), Joan Ellen (Tony and Jack Hennessy), Serendipity (Andy Holmes) and Keep on Running (Gordon Syme). Many RBYC members are sailing aboard Gary Davidson’s Solaire as well. We wish them all the best and hope they are enjoying the current conditions with strong Southeast Trade winds. Last Saturday was the final ORCV Winter Series race to Geelong.
The race was sailed in light and shifty conditions. The crew of Another Chapter won Div 1 in AMS and PHS for the overall series. Serious Yahoo
came 3rd in Div 2 AMS and 2nd in Div 2 PHS. A fantastic result for both boats and their crews.
Rounding out the weekend, Josh Stuchbery helming Another Chapter came 2nd in the Notice Skippers race. Here is a link to the results
Once all the crews arrive home from their travels, we will be preparing for RBYC opening day. The theme is “The Colours of Sailing” and we look forward to crews deciding on which colour or colours suit them the best. Register for the event here. Prizes are awarded for best dressed crew and boat. This day is not just for sailors,we invite all members to come to the club and enjoy a wonderfull day and celebrate the start of the sailing season.
