This coming weekend, July 4th-5th, the Cruising Group is holding its annual Frostbite Cruise to Docklands. This has been scheduled to coincide with Melbourne’s Firelight Festival, also held being at Docklands on this weekend. Eight RBYC boats have booked berths at Melbourne City Marina (MCM) for the Saturday night – Blaise Pascal, Big Easy, Kirra Kirra, Reliance, Thunder, Saffron II, Solitaire and Why Knot. A pot-luck dinner is planned for Saturday evening in the marina lounge, so even if you haven’t booked your boat, you are welcome to car/train/bus/walk into the city and join us in the lounge to watch the firelight festival display in the company of fellow sailors. Please let Jo Walker ([email protected]) know if you are planning to do so.
July Guest Speaker Dinner
Looking ahead, we are delighted to have Norm Boreham, president of the “Friends of Alma Doepel” organisation present to us on Friday, July 17th. Norm has a short presentation in which he will relate the history of the Alma, how the restoration is progressing, plans and next steps, leading up to taking the ship across Bass Strait to participate in the 2027 Hobart Wooden Boat Festival (5-8 Feb).
As usual, bookings are essential for catering purposes, so book your place with RBYC Reception
