Well – not quite true but it got your attention!!!
Instead – A very simple mooring line pole solution that is easy to make
If interested take a stroll over to Pen 322
Details as follows:
25mm diameter PVC electrical conduit tube from any hardware shop
Boil a kettle and pour a small localised stream of boiling water over the point you want to bend while rotating the tube. After about 30 seconds it will be soft enough to easily bend back.
Important to do the two bends in the right sequence
Cut pole to right length
Drill a 25mm diameter hole through a block of 90x45mm pine using a spade bit
Drill two holes in block and use either tex or bugle battens screws that will go approximately 30mm deep into the pen timber
Put a screw into the side of the block that goes through into the conduit
Angel of pole can be adjusted towards or away from boat by plastic shims on one side of block
For bigger boats / heavier lines you might want to use a bigger diameter tube or just use the larger tube as a sleeve to give more stiffness
