The next Guest Speaker Dinner will be on Friday 15th November, when Wayne and Allison Sollars have kindly agreed to tell us of their 10 years sailing their Hallberg-Rassy 39, Blue Heeler, around the world.

Wayne and Alison sold their house, filled the boat, and sailed from Port Phillip in January 2011 for destinations unknown. In October 2022, after sailing over 52,000nm and visiting 60 countries, they returned to Australia a little older and a lot saltier, brimming with memories and stories of their voyages over their ten-year odyssey.

As usual, bookings are essential for catering purposes. To book, please contact Reception on 9592 3092 or email [email protected] prior to the close of business on Wednesday September 18th.   $40.00 per person is payable on the night, inclusive of a two course dinner.

An information evening for the 2025 Bass Strait Cruise (Sat Feb 22nd to Monday March 10th 2025) will be held on the evening of Friday December 6th 2024, in the RBYC Committee Room.

To close the year out, we will be holding the annual Hardstand Christmas Party on Saturday 7th December.

And finally, our thanks go to Jo Walker for all her work in organising last Friday’s unfortunately cancelled Progressive Dinner, for contacting all those who had signed up to advise of the cancellation on the Friday, and for organising the replacement group dinner at the Club. Sometimes, Huey just does not cooperate, and last Friday’s gale and thunderstorm warning, along with heavy rain, meant that we really could not proceed with original plan. Nevertheless, many of those who had signed up enjoyed a group dinner at the club, followed by dessert at Jo and John Walker’s.
