ILCA (Laser) Masters World Championship Update

RBYC achieved some outstanding results in the ILCA Masters World Championships at the Adelaide Sailing Club last week.

Competitors from 30 countries all over the world enjoyed spectacular racing with strong sea breezes and large waves.

Four RBYC sailors did the club proud on the world stage.  Tony McPhail sailed brilliantly to finish on the podium with a 5th overall in the ILCA 6 Great Grand Master division.

Damon Cook and Andrew Crawshaw had great regattas finishing 9th and 15th overall respectively in the ILCA6 Grand Master division, w hile Mark Deacon, having just jumped back into sailing produced an amazing 9th overall in the ILCA 6 Master division.  An awesome effort from the OTB fleet reflecting all their hard training.

Other Victorian sailors also demonstrated the depth of talent in our state including:  James Mitchell (SYC) – 1st in the ILCA 6 Great Grand Master division,  Steve Gunter (PMYC) 1st in the ILCA 7 Great Grand Master division,  Mark Tonner-Joyce (GYC) –  2nd in the ILCA 6 Grand Masters Division,  Andrew Robinson (SYC) – 5th in the ILCA 7 Grand Master division, and  Rob Jeffreys (SYC) – 6th in the ILCA 6 Great Grand Master division.
