OTB Racing

Thursday night OTB sessions continue to build and are a sensational sailing experience with a great mix of racing and socialising. A fleet of eight Lasers, one Aero and one Windsurfer completed four sprint races in perfect conditions last Thursday night. Racing was fierce but friendly. A big thanks to John Mooney who now provides regular coaching support during the Thursday night racing and a debrief afterwards to help sailors build their skills.

Over the weekend, eight OTB sailors represented RBYC at the Inland Waters Championship at Lake Eppalock near Bendigo. This regatta has become a popular fixture with nearly 80 sailors competing in Laser (Ilca) and Optimists, and camping over the weekend at the venue. RBYC sailors featured strongly in the results. One of RBYCs young rising stars, Tom Holmes (left in photo) had a terrific regatta to finish 3rd in the Ilca 7s, while RBYC green fleet Opti sailor Ed Jukes received a special award at his first regatta, and his proud father Brendon Jukes also showed impressive form with an excellent 4th place in the Ilca 6s.

This week we have scheduled Thursday night sprint racing at 6pm and Sunday OTB racing at 2pm.

New Sailors are always welcome to join in the OTB fun.
