ANNUAL PROGRESSIVE DINNER – FRIDAY October 20th.
What a fantastic evening for the Cruising Group’s annual Progressive Dinner, held last Friday, October 30th. True to the weather forecast, we enjoyed a warm balmy evening – which, as we know, is not always a given in October – for several hours of eating, drinking and good company.
After gathering in the Members Bar to collect the evening’s program and participate in the Friday draw, around 40 of us headed down the pier to be on our respective first designated boats for nibbles and mains by 7:30pm. All too soon it was time to break up the conviviality to re-mix folks, and have them head to their second assigned boat in time for desserts at 8:55, before finally heading on to “Kirra Kirra” at around 10pm for port, chocolates and the comparing of notes. All comments were complimentary, with praise for the host chefs. There were reports of mains ranging from beef bourguignon to Italian chicken with olives and tomatoes, to butter chicken with raita and naan to various casseroles, and desserts of apple pie and ice cream to mixed fruits and cream, amongst others.
The Progressive Dinner has been organised and hosted annually by the Cruising Group since 2007, missing only the pandemic years. It is always pleasing to see a cross section of the Club participate, from cruisers to racing crew to social members, and all in between.
Our grateful thanks to the boat hosts for the evening, for making their boats available, and for preparing, cooking and presenting their meals: “Andalucia”, “Carvalo”, “Every Spare Moment”, “Halcyon”, “Kirra Kirra”, “Lena”, “Mirrabooka”, “Pizzaz”, “Reliance”, “Sophistique”, “Sun Kiss”, and “Why Knot”.
NOVEMBER GUEST SPEAKER DINNER – FRIDAY November 17th.
Our November Guest Speaker will be Rod Cuthbert – Six months Cruising Southern Tasmania. Keep Friday Nov 17th clear in your calendar for this dinner and Rod’s talk. More details to come.
