Competitors, volunteers and Australian Sailing considered this to be a highly successful and enjoyable event. You can see some terrific video and photos on the Sail Melbourne Facebook page. Volunteers commented on the camaraderie between clubs and across race management teams.
As special shout out to the beach volunteers who put in a massive effort in hot/cold and challenging conditions . This great team of people was lead by our very own Commodore Niesje Hees who was seen many a time hauling trailers up the beach, not something you often see a Commodore doing, so please when you see her say thank you
“To the RBYC beach volunteers, I want to thank you hugely for all the help and dedication you displayed over Sail Melbourne. For an old sailor like me, the help with my Laser was enormous. The smiles and encouragement each day was uplifting. The club can be very proud of putting on a great regatta. I’m not sure who they were, but the pin boat team got to know me well also! Thank you again.” Nick Ede, Laser 220000.
