ORCV Bowman Course

As someone who has spent some time up the pointy end of the boat in the past, I was looking to further my knowledge of everything bow-work when I enrolled in the ORCV Bowman course. I was looking for helpful tips and tricks, as well as to understand what was best practice forward of the mast: it’s safe to say, the course delivered this and more.

Peter and Martin were fantastic mentors throughout the Wednesday zoom session and practical day. They both showed a fantastic set of skills and shared so much knowledge which I will now keep with me for the remainder of my sailing life.

I can highly recommend this course to anyone really, as people who spend time at the back of the boat can gain an understanding for how the timing of manoeuvres is crucial to the boats performance, and how they can best assist the bow to have them go smoothly. But most importantly, this course would help anyone new to the bow, or returning after some time off, who is looking to refresh or learn some really important skills to assist the boats they are sailing on.

As someone new to the city and RBYC after my move from Tasmania at the start of the year, I am really grateful that the club nominated me as their U25 participant for this course and thank them very much for the opportunity.”
