The Lady Nelson Trophy was donated by Past Commodore A. W. Finlay (1946/47) to encourage yachts on the RBYC register to compete in long-distance overnight racing around Port Phillip.
In recent years the interest in this type of racing has greatly diminished. As a result, Sailing Committee is seeking to regenerate interest in racing for the trophy by introducing a race that will be demanding, but will also fit in with today’s much changed way-of-life.
The concept is for a longer race, shared course with SYC starting at 6pm and finishing around midnight.
Scoring for the Lady Nelson Trophy will be based on the boat’s AMS corrected time.
Scoring for the F.D. Linacre Trophy will be based on the boat’s PHD corrected time.
Scoring for the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy will be based on the boat’s ORCc corrected time.
