Come and Try VX One Sailing at RBYC

Discover the thrill of sailing a VX One at Royal Brighton Yacht Club.
The VX One is a modern sports boat that combines speed, responsive handling and close racing. Whether you are an experienced sailor looking for a new challenge or simply curious about the class, our Come and Try session is the perfect opportunity to step aboard.
What to expect
You will sail with an experienced VX One skipper and crew who will introduce you to the boat, explain the basic controls and help you get involved.
During the session, you may have the opportunity to:
- Take the helm
- Trim the sails
- Assist with manoeuvres
- Experience the speed and performance of a VX One
- Meet members of the RBYC VX One fleet
- Learn about regular sailing and racing opportunities
No previous VX One experience is required.
Who can participate?
Come and Try VX One sailing is suitable for sailors who are comfortable being active on a small, fast keelboat.
Some sailing experience is helpful, but you do not need to have sailed a VX One before. If you are unsure whether the session is suitable for you, please contact us before registering.
Participants must be physically able to move safely around the boat. Minimum age requirements may apply.
What should I bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and bring:
- Enclosed, non-marking footwear
- A waterproof or spray jacket
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
- A water bottle
- Warm clothing for cooler conditions
- A change of clothes
Personal flotation devices will be provided if required.

Sailing is weather dependent. If conditions are unsuitable, RBYC may postpone or reschedule the session.
