This autumn weekend RBYC was abuzz with on-water activities, including sailing, swimming and social activities, as well as some special events.
Saturday April 25th began with a 7.30am ANZAC Day Iceberger swim.
There was then a formal ANZAC ceremony the Clubhouse, acknowledging the sacrifices of so many.
On Sunday we ran a special on-water training exercise for a group of women involved in this coming Sunday’s BLiSS regatta (Brighton Ladies’ Skipper Series, the final race-day in the Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series). This was held on the Club’s keelboat, with one of our expert instructors coaching in race tactics and racing skills. It was most generously sponsored by YRSA / AMS.
On Sunday we ran the first of a new series of Sunday PHS keelboat races, open to sailors from both RBYC and other Clubs around the Bay. The next will be held later in May – watch the website or newsletter. At the same time there was a lot of OTB activity, including training for Optis, Quests, 420s and ILCAs.
On and off water activities will continue to be run throughout winter. Next weekend is busy as well, with the annual Cerberus Race on Saturday and the BLiSS Regatta Sunday – with the Kings Cup Opti Regatta coming up in June.
