On Saturday 1 November 2025, Julie McKay and her crew from RBYC made maritime history as their vessel, ANOTHER CHAPTER slipped over the finish line in the dying breeze.
Julie scored the trifecta by taking line honours and becoming the overall winner of the 50th Goorangai Trophy Race, with Julie additionally winning the Eliza Ramsden Female Helm Trophy.
Julie is the first female winner in the history of the Goorangai, and she’s the only sailor to put herself in the RBYC and QCYC record books by taking out all three trophies.
Julie expertly mentored KISS Graduate, Monique Bennett using her skill in calm leadership under pressure. Alison Blacket, the trimmer, is hoping to do the ORCV KISS program in 2026. Great job everyone.
ANOTHER CHAPTER owner Greg Clinnik played a huge role in developing this team, his generous spirit giving the women an opportunity to improve their sailing skills. To Julie, Monique and Alison congratulations for taking on the challenge, and making ANOTHER CHAPTER the yacht to beat.
Thanks to RBYC volunteers for their skilful running of the race start, to Mike Phelan (QCYC Club Captain) and Rosie Colahan for their race management, and to QCYC for hosting the event.
It’s great to see sailing making history on Melbourne Cup Weekend as ANOTHER CHAPTER enters the record books.
