GC Report- Peter Gebhardt

Dear Members
Looking back at the last few General Committee weekly updates, we have been reminded that the cold weather is really upon us; however, it is pleasing to see that many events are still happening around the club, both on and off the water.
We have a fantastic speaker scheduled for next month’s Guest Speaker Dinner, which will be held on the 16th August. Cheyne O’Brien, Senior Marine Specialist from the Bureau of Meteorology, will present marine forecasting and its science, emphasising the Port Phillip area. Cheyne’s background is in operational marine forecasting, and she is currently one of the marine specialists within the bureau. This is a fantastic opportunity to better understand forecasting for all members.
For boat owners in this cold weather, it is a timely reminder that if you are out on the marina and working on your boat by yourself, you take a moment to make a note of the nearest safety ladders along the marina walkway and that you lower your boat ladders in case of emergency. Also consider wearing a PFD if you plan to work on or near the water whilst on your boat.
Have a great week ahead!
