Catch-up with our elite sailors

As well as herself being a dedicated competitive IQ Foil sailor, training regularly, Anna Cripsey organised a fundraising event earlier this year for the nine elite sailors aspiring make an Olympic team. We asked Anna to give us an update of what these sailors have been up to.
Jack Eichmeyer and Lachie Weber competed in the Under 21 Europeans, Princess Sofia trophy and the Ilca 7 Under 21 world championships in Portugal last week. They both were well in the mix at all events and have gained valuable international experience.
Casey Imeneo finished off a great European season, where she raced in the Princess Sofia regatta, French Olympic week and Kiel week. She has spent the last few weeks in Marseille helping teammate Zoe Thomson with her final preparations for the Paris Olympics.
Tana Deyell has been gaining valuable experience with racing in New Zealand and recently competed at the Kite Foil Croc Classic in Townsville.
Charlotte Wormald has competed in the Princess Sofia Trophy, which was an amazing experience and opportunity to compete against the best in the world and has recently completed an eight-week training block in Weymouth.
Philip Cripsey also competed in Palma for the Princess Sofia trophy finishing near the top of silver fleet in his first year in the open category, and is now focused on completing year 12 before the domestic season begins again in November.
Sophie and James Jackson competed in the princess Sofia trophy, French Olympic week and 470 European championships from March to May. It was tough competition in the Olympic year but was a fantastic learning experience and a lot of progress was made.
Anna herself has been busy training the last few months out of RBYC and interstate, and is preparing to leave in a couple weeks for the Under 23 World Championships and IQ International Games at Lake Silvaplana in Switzerland. She is excited to learn as much as possible from the opportunity.
The sailors are all very grateful for the support from the RBYC community to allow them keep going after their goals and representing Brighton on the world stage – their eyes and efforts are now on LA 2028.
