Open to sailors of all abilities who want to experience this spectacular 20 ft sports cross keel / dinghy class
The ‘Try VX One Day’ will start at 10am on 8 November 2025 on the clubs’ Hardstand (down the pier) on and will run until about 3:30pm – followed by drinks in the Members’ bar.
There will time for training / fun followed by 3 short races during the afternoon where you will be able to crew & /or helm.
The VX One is a modern and light one-design sports boat that has great stability (70kg keel). It accelerates quickly and sails at wind speed when under kite with speeds up to 24 knots.
The layout of the VX One is clean and simple. It has a self-tacking jib and a simple asymmetric kite (no spinnaker poles of old). It is simple to control by 2 or 3 crew.
With a fast-growing fleet in all major Aus cities 60 plus boats sailing and 12 imported in the last year alone, there are no signs of this growth slowing down.
A strict one design but “open” class mentality makes for a short learning curve, great open dock talks and fierce on water competition. This is a class to get in on!
