RBYC members enjoy the 2025 Women’s Helm, Navigator & Radio Race

We enjoyed hosting the participants of the 2025 Women’s Helm, Navigator & Radio Race for dinner on Friday night and breakfast the next morning, before they headed for Queenscliff Cruising Yacht club in a building breeze.

Well done to RBYC boat She’s Apples – thanks to Matt Gault for the use of the boat which was greatly appreciated. The crew included RBYC members Shirley Qian, Belinda Lazarides, Claire Pritchard and Susan Watitwa. Congratulations to She’s Apples on their 4th place and well done to Belinda for winning the Navigators award. To quote Belinda “Even though we had never sailed together before we supported and cared for each other – it was very uplifting and inspiring to be in an all-women’s team and Matt was a great leader!

As reported on the ORCV Facebook page “The 2025 Women’s Helm, Navigator & Radio Race dished up just about everything. Given the conditions, the start was cautious. Whales, Dolphins and Pelicans were witness to challenging sailing in moderate to lively wind. All crews worked hard and were rewarded by that unbeatable feeling of being out there and doing it together.”

The party at Queenscliff was lots of fun as usual and you can see many familiar faces in the photo.
