Cruising News 1/7

As we go through these chilly shortest days of the year, many of our cruising colleagues have escaped Melbourne and headed north into warmer climes and / or longer days.

The RBYC yacht Aquacadabra is now stopped off in Cairns, after departing Port Phillip three weeks ago and making great progress up the East Coast en-route to Thursday Island. There, the boat and crew will join the “Sail to Indonesia” rally that departs Thursday Island in mid-July. On board are skipper Rob Hurrell, along with other RBYC sailors Brian Churchill , Tony Garvey and Dave Stripp.

In news of other Cruising Group members, Peter and Susie Strain are currently walking across the UK, Brenton and Robina Smith have been cruising Alaska (big boat cruising!), and Pam Merritt has been enjoying the wilds of northern Scandinavia.

For those remaining behind in Melbourne or returning shortly, the Cruising Group is planning the annual Frostbite Cruise to take place late July. Stay tuned for dates and destination arrangements.
