The Victorian 2025 RS 100 State Championships were held at Wallagoot Lake Boating Club on Saturday and Sunday of the long weekend. 5 RBYC members sailed and filled 4 of the top 5 places. At the completion of the 5 race regatta Peter Milne was crowned Champion on count back from David Williamson tied on 7 points, Stuart Lyon was fourth with 13 points, Grantley Christensen fifth on 17 points and Andrew Poulton made up the numbers finishing eleventh with 40 Points.
Wallagoot Lake Boating Club is located on Lake Wallagoot which is within the Bournda National Park about 15 minutes from Tatura in Southern NSW. In March of each year the Club holds its annual WLBC Regatta which this year attracted 58 entries comprising trailer sailers, lasers, sabres, sailfish, an assortment of other monohulls and catamarans including the NSW Maricat State Championships and the RS 100s.
Wallagoot Lake Boat Club has 2 RS 100’s in their fleet and as part of class promotion it was agreed to hold the Victorian States at WLBC. The RS fleet included 1 boat from Warrnambool, 2 from Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club, Ballina and 1 from Darling Point Sailing Squadron, Brisbane.
The sailing was held in shifty conditions with big changes in both direction and strength, flat water and sunny conditions. It did rain over night. Being in a National Park was a little different being surround by bush with the call of Bell Birds and evidence of other of nocturnal animals each morning on the grass.
