Cruising News 25/2

The 2025 Bass Strait Cruise is off and running. As of midday Monday Feb 24th, the Brighton boats “Aquacadabra”, “Chakana” and “Kirra Kirra”, in company with “Atmospheric” and “Umbra Luna” from SYC, had cleared Port Phillip Heads on the morning’s slack water, and were making their way SE along the coast, heading for Wilsons Prom. The fleet had been joined by “SunKiss” and “AdAlta” for the trip down to QCYC last Saturday, taking advantage of that day’s good northerly.

In other Cruising news, “Y-Knot” was sailing up the Tasmanian Coast, just north of Maria Island (at the time of writing), on her way home after several weeks cruising in the waters of Storm Bay and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel.

Our Guest Speaker Dinner program will recommence for 2025 on Friday March 21st, when Dan Lyon (aka Diver Dan) will let us into the secrets below the waterline. Book now with reception for an illuminating evening.

In April, we are pleased to bring you Greg Clinnick, who will talk about Another Chapter’s 2024 Sydney to Hobart campaign. This Guest Speaker Dinner will be held on Friday 11th April and promises to be an informative and entertaining evening (this is a week earlier than usual, due to the 3rd Friday of April being Easter Good Friday).

Looking further out, in May, on Friday the 16th, we have the pleasure of John Rundell talking about this year’s Wooden Boat Festival, along with Why Knot’s voyage down to Hobart to participate in the event.
