RBYC was well represented at Festival of Sails by Rear Commodore Cath Hurley
It was wonderful to see so many Brighton sailors enjoying the Festival of Sails in Geelong over the long weekend. It’s always a fun event on and off the water with competitive racing and top class entertainment complete with up and coming performers and even a fireworks show.
The Regatta began with the passage race to Geelong on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday. It was spectacular to see boats under spinnaker in the busy Hopetoun Channel. Even though thunderstorms put a stop to racing Monday, all agreed it was a terrific weekend with RBYC fielding 12 entries. The camaraderie amongst the Brighton sailors was great to be part of.
Special mention to those who reached the podium in their divisions;
Rating Division 2 – Ken Christensen, JAHMU (3rd AMS)
Spinnaker Division 1 – David Morrell, Just Chillin (1st place)
Spinnaker Division 2 – Geoff Adams, True Colours (1st place)
Spinnaker Division 3 – Paul Jenkins & Andrew Merritt, Caledonia (2nd place)
