GC Report – Peter Coleman

Hello fellow members.

Well, how bad has our weather been lately. Not conducive to playing boats.

I was lucky enough to speak with past Commodore Peter Johns and Karen and the trusty deckhand for a couple of weeks, Susan Cassidy.   They are having a splendid time in their canal boat currently in France and hoping to get into Germany.   What a splendid time they must be having with little wind and shorts and t-shirt weather. For those who want a great read, get onto Karens blog, so much historical fact.

The photo in France is after a long day doing a lot of kilometres and going thru 8 locks.

A lot of members are gearing up to head north for the sailing in the Whitsundays to do the regattas so good luck to all participating.

Cyan Moon is in Sydney preparing for the Sydney to Gold coast race so good luck to the well-travelled team led by Wayne Seaward.

At our club there are some big events coming up when the season starts in October with the One Design two-day regatta and some pre-Christmas regattas for all the Etchells teams to hone their skills prior to the big one – the 2025 Etchells World Championships here at RBYC early January, exciting times for sure.

Here in Melbourne at RBYC I encourage all to seriously look at buying some club merchandise. Mandy has them for sale at the front desk. I bought a 150-year anniversary pullover and I must say it is truly fantastic and so nice to wear – get in quick as they are selling fast.

See you at the club
