Two of RBYC budding Optimist sailors Edward Jukes and Charlie Chidlow made the track down the highway to sail against 45 other competing Optimist from many other yacht clubs across the bay at the annual Schnapper Point Regatta held at Mornington Yacht club.
Sailing seven races to make up the series under glorious sunshine and light 5 to 10 knot winds the boys achieved some amazing results for kids just commencing their journey in the sport.
Edward Jukes finished on the Podium in 3rd place in the Optimist Green Fleet and Charlie Chidlow finished a very credible 7th overall.
The boys had a huge amount of fun and loved representing RBYC in what is a continuation of the fun and great times they have been experiencing each Sunday afternoon sailing Opti’s at RBYC as part of the Greenfleet. The Opti’s Greenfleet is building at RBYC and is a great path way for kids wanting to sail, have fun, form friendships and hang out with buddies. Edward and Charlie are looking forward to sailing in there first State Championships in the Optimists in March at Sandringham Yacht Club and will be joined by a contingent of other RBYC Opti Sailors.
