GC Message

Dear Members

I hope this message finds you well. Similar to my note this time last year, I am looking forward to seeing our Wednesday and Saturday programs swing into full gear now that the summer holidays are over and we see our boats and crew return to the club. The weather was a little inconsistent late last year; however, if last Saturday was any indication, we should look forward to some lovely days ahead.

On Saturday, fleet numbers appeared to be down across most classes and divisions. I hope we get to see more boats out on the water across weekends. A reminder that if you do require crew, please contact the Sailing Office, and they will try and find some willing participants for you.

Our monthly Guest Speaker Dinners, bought to you by the Cruising Group, kick off again in February. Last year, three RBYC boats sailed across to New Calédonie and Vanuatu. Sue and Rob Hurrell (Aquacadabra), Robina and Brenton Smith (Chakana) and Barbara Burns and Geoff Brewster (Saffron) will be regaling you with their experiences from their six months afloat. The dinner is on Friday 16th February from 7.30 pm in the Bayview Room. Please get in touch with Mandy at Reception to make a booking.

We continue to actively look for members, including power boat owners, to help volunteer by assisting in driving the support boats or helping manage races. This is a great way to practice and improve your boat handling skills and an opportunity to get up close to some excellent sail racing. Please get in touch with the Sailing Office if you are interested in helping.

I hope to see you out on the water, and have a great week ahead!
