Report from GC

It’s my turn to write a few words. Over half of the season has gone, and the half yearly meeting is Tuesday evening – I hope you find it informative. As Treasurer, I’m ably assisted by a Finance team.  We meet prior to the monthly General Committee meeting and look at the financial results for the month to identify trends and make recommendations to the GC.

On several occasions in the past six months I’ve done the members draw on a Friday night and it’s great to see so many people down at the club. Unfortunately, I’ve not won the money yet but I’m hoping and this week the total is $1000. We’ll split the draw after that if the money is not won. I hope to see you all at the Club on Friday night.

As you’ll hear at the half yearly meeting there are a lot of activities planned for the coming months. I’m getting excited to see the new marina gate to the hard stand and there are other capital works planned which will benefit members. Apart from Treasurer duties, I usually run the twilight races and these are a lot of fun. With daylight saving coming to an end there are only two more races on Wednesday night. Last Wednesday was the biggest fleet we have had – though not all entrants finished because of the silly winds we’re having. Those winds have played havoc in our sailing programme in general. The only other thing I have to say is get involved with club activities, the more you put into the club the more you get out of the  club. If you want to volunteer that is fantastic, and a day volunteering at the club is better than mowing the lawns, doing the washing or cleaning windows
