Royal Brighton Yacht Club is proud to provide the young generations with a fun and safe introduction to dinghy sailing!
As an accredited Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre, our club runs a wide array of dinghy sailing programs for youths between the ages of 12 and 18, right from the essentials skills with OutThere 1 to the more advanced competences of OutThere 2 and 3.
All programs are run in 3 person dinghies and are specifically designed to allow young sailors to have fun, make new friends and learn new skills in an encouraging and safe environment. Australian Sailing requires all accredited clubs to meet the highest standards in order to achieve the best delivery.
Following the completion of OutThere, participants are encouraged to join RBYC junior and youth program which spans a number of different classes of boats.
For more information on each program check out below or contact us directly by sending us an email at [email protected] or calling our sailing office on (0)3 9592 3092.
Life after OutThere – What’s next?
Youth Racing Squad
The Youth Racing squad is aimed at sailors who have worked their way through the OutThere Program or who have completed both Youth Challenge and Youth Skills. As the name suggests, it is focused around racing and integrates the Sunday afternoon OTB club racing into its training structure.
Sailors from this group also have the opportunity to be selected in the squad representing RBYC at the Stonehaven cup, one of the most historical regattas around the country.
29er Squad
A new addition to the RBYC programs, our 29er squad welcomes sailors who have never seen a 29er before, all the way up to those who are preparing for state and national championships.
Spearheaded by some of the best 29er coaches in the country, our squad is lucky enough to be able to make use of one of the club 29ers before having to commit to purchasing their own.
Have a go at sailing with different people and find your best match before diving in and getting ready to race!
