Hansa Worlds – Measuring is done, ready to race
All the measuring and registration is complete. Past past past Commodore Paul Pascoe and a huge team of volunteers had plenty on. It really is amazing how these people put it all together, it is more complex than any other type of Worlds as there is so many people with different abilities and disabilities – it really is the Inclusive Worlds.
The practice race was held this afternoon which a lot of competitors and the race officials took advantage of to get their stuff together. RBYC member Patrick Purcell is on the Alpha course finish boat so he was secretly able to tell me about the threats on Alpha course which I am sailing on. It would appear the Dutch are super strong as well as the Asia Pacific champion from Hong Kong.
The atmosphere in the club is truly amazing with 17 countries competing of varying experience and ability. The enthusiasm is truly infectious. Everyone is so happy to be here and to be involved in our chosen sport.
After racing today a parade of nations was held followed by the welcome ceremony.
The real racing starts tomorrow and looks like being light – it actually looks light the whole series which is disheartening for me but, it is what it is. The good sailors will be the good sailors then the rest of us, all good fun. Last day looks like the only windy day.
You can follow on all the media channels and event website.
