150 Year Regatta
The 150th Regatta to be held on March 29th and 30th offers two days of events to celebrate our sailing heritage. Whether you’re racing on keelboats, one-design or OTB or just simply cruising, you’ll find an event for you to be able to join in. If you’ve not already done so, could I please ask that you consider entering the event. Even if not part of a regular crew and want to join in please let the Boating Office know and they will try and accommodate you on participating boats. In addition we’ll have the Jubliees and VX One State Titles over the two days.
On Friday night prior to the Regatta, there will be a special evening in the Members’ Bar with music to dance to, bar snacks and of course the weekly members’ draw. Also on show will be the new RBYC Celebration Trophy. This trophy, presented to the Club by the McKenna Family, has been created to honour the winners of significant Club events., Whether you’re participating in the Regatta or just want to come along, everybody is welcome to celebrate sailing at RBYC
As part of the Regatta, we have set aside Saturday afternoon for families and our junior sailors. Starting at 3.00pm there is a range of activities especially for our younger members including, beach games, face painting, try sailing, RHIB rides, sail painting and a sausage sizzle. From 2pm to 4pm families will have the opportunity to have a tour of a “fire engine on water”. Fire Rescue Victoria has kindly offered to bring FRV’s Fireboat to RBYC and this will be tied up alongside our marina.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to join the festivities – they only come around every 150 years.
Peter Demura Commodore Wishing you fair winds and following seas and remember no bananas at sea.
