Monday Working Group

The Club was a hive of activity over the past week with over 200 boats and boards competing in Sail Melbourne. The focus of the working group this week was resorting the beach and removing all the sand from the Club dragged up by the returning boats. While Clive was busy tidying up the yard and carparks, Andy, Cath Neil and I tidied up the beach, removed a few barrow loads of sand from outside the Jock Sturrock Centre and stowed the beach mats until the next regatta. Thank you to everyone who helped out. Who knew we had a boat ramp down to the beach!

During Sail Melbourne numerous visitors to the Club remarked on what a wonderful sailing venue we have. The competitors appreciated the rigging lawn, the ease of access to the beach for OTB boats and the wash down facilities. The Monday Working Group looks forward to supporting the Boating Office and Brendan, our Maintenance Manager, in ensuring that members and visiting sailors continue to have a positive experience. This is what the Thursday working group has been doing for several years now, and it’s great to see more volunteers getting involved.

Unfortunately, due to sailing commitments, Christmas, and the upcoming Etchells World Championships this was our last regular working bee for the year. We will return in the New Year to continue our work.

I Iook forward to seeing you in 2025.
