First up thanks to the new Commodore – Niesje – for organising spectacular weather for Opening Day. It was great to see such a variety of boats out for the sail past, lead by keel boats of all sizes. Special mention to Elegance for their Viking sails and Joan Ellen for the crowd of legitimate Vikings and many others who dressed for the occasion, as well as those dressed as themselves. This was followed by the fleet of VX Ones with some very scary Vikings on board, the 2.4’s, a fleet of Lasers, and a couple of Dragons and Etchells as well – followed by some of the club’s rhibs and power boats. There was just enough wind to get a race in and head back to the club for some terrific music, food and drink. A great day had by all.

We have a full sailing program coming up with keelboat & One Design racing on Wednesday and Saturdays, and off the beach Thursdays and Sundays. The staff and race management team are geared up and ready. A reminder that we are always looking for more volunteers and will provide training. Please contact the sailing office if you can put in some time on any of those days.
Later in this newsletter there is an invitation to the Man Overboard (MOB) seminar being held on Thursday 7 October at 7:00 pm. This is being run by the ORCV and had had very good reviews. Whether you are a skipper or crew on any type of boat you’ll find this one-hour seminar of great interest and benefit. Hope to see you there.
