***Race Management VHF Channel Change – Effective 1 August***

To improve the clarity and reliability of race management communications, Royal Brighton Yacht Club will be changing its race management VHF channel from Channel 77 to Channel 73 for all RBYC Club Racing, effective Saturday, 1 August.
This change has been made due to the increasing amount of radio traffic on Channel 77 during race days, including communications from other clubs, which can create unnecessary congestion and confusion.
All competitors, race officials and support vessels are asked to update their radios and use VHF Channel 73 for all RBYC Club Racing communications from 1 August onwards.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide clearer and more efficient race management communications.

RBYC Etchells Tango wins European Etchells Championship
Congratulations to Chris Hampton with his regular crew Sam Haines and Charlie Cumbley on winning the Open European Championship at Cork Week. The article in SailWorld quotes Chris after the regatta “We have had to come from behind a couple of times. When we haven’t started well, we’ve managed to claw our way back through good boat speed, positioning and consistency. We’ve had the full range of conditions, from stronger breeze to light-air sailing, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Being part of Cork Week has worked extremely well because it creates an atmosphere that we simply would not have had racing on our own. The race committee produced very even courses, with genuine tactical choices both upwind and downwind. The hospitality has been fantastic, Crosshaven is a beautiful place, and these are some of the best sailing conditions we have experienced for years.”
Looking ahead to 2.4 regattas at RBYC
2.4 Class President Peter Coleman has been following the 2.4 Worlds in Sneek Netherlands, which has just completed. Australia was represented by three avid 2.4 sailors from other clubs across Australia; Peter Russell, Brian Carroll and Troy Cortis. Sailors from fleets across Australia and beyond will be coming to RBYC for Sail Melbourne in November and then the 30th 2.4 Australian titles in January. :Lots to look forward to – only 192 days to the Nationals!
