GC Report from Mark Woodland

Last Saturday we had 15 boats competing in the Cerberus race to Black Rock, followed by a barbecue on the hardstand with perfect weather conditions. It all changed for Sundays Bliss regatta, which had to be cancelled due to high winds and squally conditions - that’s sailing. Congratulations to the crew of Serious Yahoo B9 for winning Port Phillip Women’s …

The Royal Brighton Yacht Club is supporting the growth of women’s sailing

Access to suitable sailing clothing remains a key barrier, affecting safety, confidence and enjoyment on the water.
Members are encouraged to donate quality, serviceable items such as jackets, pants, boots, gloves and thermal layers. Other major Clubs on Port Phillip have been invited to participate in this initiative.
Donated gear will be included in a silent auction, with all proceeds supporting the KISS Women’s Training Program.
Items can be left at the Boating Office during office hours. Please DO NOT leave outside.

Another Cerberus is done and dusted.
The annual Cerberus race was started in a friendly northerly wind. The forecast for increasing winds didn’t really eventuate. There were a few gusts coming back to the finish but nothing menacing. At the hardstand barbecue former winner Etchells Playing Around 2 (Pete Robson) was announced as third place with L’Etoile (Celestine Eramo and Wesley Thomson) taking full advantage of their huge spinnaker to come second. First place went to the VxOne Hydrotherapy (Damiel Gorton) which really enjoyed the downwind ride to the mark off the Cerberus wreck (see image below). Commodore Peter Demura reminded everyone that it is the 100th anniversary of the wreck. You can read more about the history of the Cerberus here. You can read more about the trophy and the race on our trophy catalogue.

Thanks to all the BLISS supporters
The annual BliSS female skippers regatta has always been something to look forward to with 20 boats entered for last Sunday’s racing. Here is some of the history… The Associates Cup Trophy was originally donated …

Hi everyone, It was a relief to see more close games this week. Umpiring decisions and flawed technology are still major talking points. On the field It's possible that Collingwood has never kicked so straight as they did last Thursday night at the MCG against Hawthorn. A very accurate 15.3.93 nearly carried the Maggies to victory. The Hawks' Dylan Moore, …
