Report from Rear Commodore

One of the joys of belonging to RBYC is the friends you make and the opportunities to share adventures at home and abroad. This month finds me sailing in Greece with several Brighton members. Bikes in carpark
There are many untagged bikes being stored in the carpark area. Bike storage is allocated to senior members that have a boat on the marina or hardstand. Any bike that DOES NOT have a tag on it by 15th June will be given to charity. If you have a tagged bike you will need to collect your 26-27 tag from 1st July 2026.

Paul Pascoe’s next gig and an excellent result for local sailors
Following on from his time as Chief Judge at the San Diego Etchells Worlds, Paul Pascoe travelled to the Ningbo International Regatta in Ningbo China. What an event! We were thrilled to hear that a team representing SYC were competing, with the crew including some members and past members of RBYC. The team consisted of Eliza Ewart (skipper) and crew of Kieran East, Josh Griffith and James Hackett.
With 48 teams sailing J80s from 12 countries, the team came 3rd, missing first place by one point. With 3rd place prize money of $A4,000, it was a successful trip! Paul presented the team with the prize.
Congratulations to the team on an excellent result!

This was the 16th running of the event with just two breaks – one due to COVID and last year because Don was fully immersed in completing the club’s150th anniversary book. This year’s participants included experienced stalwarts as well as some new teams, from yachting, swimming and volunteering. Several attendees won random prizes, and the room was buzzing with laughter and song. Congratulations to the winning team, The Early Swimmers who won by an impressive margin.

RBYC Corporate Brochure

Royal Brighton Yacht Club is launching a new membership, functions and corporate partnership campaign, with the development of a premium official corporate brochure to be released in late 2026.
The brochure will showcase the club, its facilities, events and business community, while promoting opportunities for membership, corporate functions, training and sponsorship. Existing members and sponsors are invited to profile their businesses in the publication for a 16-month circulation period.
Designed as high-end marketing collateral, the brochure will be distributed extensively through the club, targeted residential and business distribution, member circulation and online channels.
Members are also encouraged to recommend local businesses or associates that may be interested in supporting the club and promoting their services through the publication.
Special benefits for members include reduced advertising rates and a complimentary professional advert design service.
Businesses must be local, well-established and offer products or services relevant to the club community.
