Colours of Sailing one week later

Due to the inclement weather on Opening Day Mark Seagar was all dressed up with nowhere to go – however he showed off his Colours of Sailing regalia last weekend for the first races of the Season. His results were pretty good too – demonstrating that a little colour doesn’t hurt sailing performance. The 2.4 fleet is all set for the regattas ahead, with
the 2026 Victorian Championships at Paynesville, Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club from 31 October to 2 November 2026, Sail Melbourne at the end of November 2026 and then the big one - The 30th Anniversary 2.4m Class Australian Championships at RBYC from the 22nd to 25th January 2027.
Entries are open and there are already 27 entries.

Cruising News 13/10

A successful Cruise to RMYS, and two great upcoming guest speaker dinners.
Over the last weekend, October 10th and 11th, Chakana, Kirra Kirra and Solitaire made the not so long trek to visit RMYS at St Kilda as one of our monthly bay cruises. There, we found a delightful yacht club, which also being a ‘Royal’ club, offered a free …

RBYC at the Victory Cup

The Victory Cup is an annual Golf competition between Yacht Clubs. This year RBYC’s Victory Cup team enjoyed the challenging course at Moonah Links. Team Brighton had four scores in the thirties. Great to have some of our swimming members involved in the team this year. The home team Blairgowrie were too good on the day. The plan is to put together a bigger team for next year and give them a real challenge!

This year's team from Left to Right; Cath Hurley, Felicity Stott, Deb Brosnahan, Kathy Roberts, Natalie Sparkman, Ross MacDowell, Barb Hille, Tim Hille.

Special thanks to Team Organisers Ross and Deb. Our top scorer was Nat with 38 points!

Serendipity enjoys a Coffs Harbour Sunset

Rear Commodore Andy Holmes and crew are on their way back to RBYC on Andy's yacht Serendipity after a wonderful time cruising and racing up north. We look forward to seeing her back for Wednesday and Saturday racing, and in the meantime wish them all the best for the rest of their journey.

Social News

Having previously been introduced to our new catering team, last Friday night we met our new chef, Geoff Lindsay. For those who are in the gastronomic know, Geoff is a hatted chef (awarded by the Australian Food Guide and comparable to Michelin stars) and has an enviable resume. He detailed his aims for the new RBYC menu, using fresh resources from our seas and farms. One of his favourite dishes includes crab. Hopefully, that delicacy will be available to savour in our restaurant!
With a balmy evening, the deck and members’ bar were bursting and buzzing. It was great to welcome home Jeremy and Jemma Cooper, who have returned to Melbourne after losing their yacht, Tai Tam, in the South Pacific Ocean after it was rammed by a pod of sperm whales. In addition to the draw, which was not won, we offered a meat tray raffle, won by a lucky person
who will enjoy many summer evening barbecues.
