Securing boats in the marina

With the big blow we had on Friday and the season coming to a close, it is a good time to remind boat owners to check their mooring lines before winter is properly upon us. There are prescribed procedures for berthing at RBYC which can be viewed HERE.
The correct size and type of rope required is essential to ensure your boat is safely secure to the pen. For those looking to get new lines Robstan offer a service to provided a full set of lines made to your boat size. They can be contacted on 0419 000 913.

Successful VXOne Victorian States at RBYC
13 boats took part over the weekend. 4 boats traveled from interstate and the remaining were the RBYC fleet. A mixed bag of weather with Saturday providing 15knts under grey skies and a choppy sea. Sunday saw a bit of sun but only 5 - 10 knots of wind. Well done to the race management team for getting the full 6 races in. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed the camaraderie and terrific competition that comes with sailing a VXOne. The regatta was won by Dollop from Jervis Bay Sailing Club, with Rob Douglass, Nic Douglass and Josh Griffith. Well done to RBYC boats 337 (Craig Garmston, Paul Fleming and Paul Newman) and 279 (Jan Talacko, Brendon Jukes and Michael Squires) who had wins in Race 1 and race 6 respectively, and indeed to all crews who made it an enjoyable and competitive regatta.

Introducing L'Etoile
Celestine and Wes brought L'Etoile to RBYC in 2025, with the blustery Bliss regatta as their first real foray onto the RBYC racecourse. They quickly found the club to be friendly and appreciated its excellent facilities.
Wes’s connection with RBYC runs deep—he began sailing Sabots at age ten and won two state championships at eleven and twelve. He brings extensive experience in 420s, Hobies, and a Nacra 5.2 to the care and racing of L’Etoile.
Cel took up sailing ten years ago and established herself on the foredeck of Tigris, a Flying Tiger at RMYS, and was where she was part of the winning AWKR crew in 2014. Her confidence at the helm is growing steadily to share the helm with Wes.
Their first year with L’Etoile proved challenging, with inclement weather keeping the boat in the pen longer than planned. True to RBYC tradition, generous crew members rallied around them and helped transform a tentative start into a dependable, regular team. With a committed crew in place, Wes and Cel are focused on club racing and planning ventures north beyond the heads, confident that many goals and achievements lie ahead.
