Wednesday the only "Sailable" Day
Saturday keelboat racing was abandoned with no wind in sight, while Sunday saw a gale warning. However, Wednesday was just right for the Hearnes Heroes race.

Women's Diesel Course enjoyed by all
RBYC was fortunate to receive a Victorian Governament Sail Our Way grant, enabling us to subsidise an RYA Diesel Engine Course for women. This 6-hour course was conducted by Yachtmaster Sailing School over two Monday evenings.
Due to the popularity of the course, there are two additional courses being sponsored by Yacht Racing Sailing Association (YRSA/AMS). We are very grateful to these supporters of women's sailing.
If any women are interested in doing this course we may be able to organise an additional one in the future - just send a note to Niesje Hees at [email protected] to express your interest.

Making Waves on the World Stage: Hunter Bryant Takes on the World
The Members’ Bar was packed on Friday night as Steve Reynolds hosted a lively fireside chat with Optimist youth sailor Hunter Bryant, who finished an impressive fourth place in Qingdao, China. With sailing firmly in his blood, Hunter is the grandson of RBYC Etchells World Champion Andrew Plympton. Listeners were taken behind the scenes of Hunter's racing campaign at the Olympic precinct, from the vital support of John Bertrand to the very different weather conditions and clever tactics used by competing nations. For sailors and non-sailors alike, it was a fascinating glimpse into international racing, proving there’s a lot more to sailing than simply pointing a boat in the right direction and hoping for the best!

30 Plus Year Members Lunch
Last Friday Commodore Peter Demura hosted a luncheon with Malcolm Page OAM OLY, Olympic gold medallist and CEO of Australian Sailing, introduced by fellow Olympic champion and RBYC member Mark Turnbull OAM OLY. Malcolm reflected on his inspiring journey from aspiring sailor to Olympic gold medallist, the lessons learned while competing at the highest level of our sport, and the path that led him to the helm of Australian Sailing. Along the way he shared his vision for the future of sailing in Australia, the opportunities ahead for sailing in Victoria, and the important role Royal Brighton Yacht Club can play in helping shape that future.

RBYC Survey
We have been keeping members up to date with progress of the Master Plan.
A pre-requisite to the Master Plan design is to complete the survey of all surrounding neighbouring properties to RBYC and a field survey to re-establishment the property boundaries. Just a short note to let all members know that the Nilsson Noel Holmes P/L surveyors have started this survey today.
