Report from GC

I was at the club last weekend, grinding away on the treadmill early one morning - age shall not weary him! I watched people come and go; swimmers (brrrrrr), young Opti sailors and their parents, volunteers preparing for the sailing day, cyclists, walkers and many familiar faces. I then went into the Olympic room which was full of conversation, …

Crew Sign-On for Racing

A reminder that all skippers are responsible for signing on every crew member before racing. Crew sign-on is completed through the Race Results app on your phone.
Crew previously registered as Regular Crew will appear on your crew list and can simply be selected for the day. New crew must be added as either Regular Crew or One-Off Crew.
The quickest option is to ask new crew members to scan your boat’s QR code and complete the online form. This registers them in the system and automatically adds them to your crew list for that day.. Use this LINK for instructions on finding your boat’s QR code on your phone. The Sailing Office can also print QR codes for you to keep onboard.
Crew sign-on is a requirement for all multi-handed boats.

***Race Management VHF Channel Change – Effective 1 August***

To improve the clarity and reliability of race management communications, Royal Brighton Yacht Club will be changing its race management VHF channel from Channel 77 to Channel 73 for all RBYC Club Racing, effective Saturday, 1 August.
This change has been made due to the increasing amount of radio traffic on Channel 77 during race days, including communications from other clubs, which can create unnecessary congestion and confusion.
All competitors, race officials and support vessels are asked to update their radios and use VHF Channel 73 for all RBYC Club Racing communications from 1 August onwards.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide clearer and more efficient race management communications.

Women's Diesel Course fully subscribed (thanks to Sail Our Way and YRSA)
RBYC was fortunate to receive a “Sail Our Way” Federal Government grant via Australian Sailing. This is being used to fund a subsidised Diesel Engine Course for women, provided by Gordon Syme / Yachtmaster. This course was quickly sold out, and fortunately we have been able to offer a second course courtesy of the BLiSS funding provided by YRSA/AMS. We are extremely grateful for this support of women’s sailing.
