What a wild weekend. Crews scheduled to race to Devonport revised their plans when the race was cancelled, and boats owners were checking their lines to make sure all was secure. I had the pleasure of attending Opening Day at Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club and was reminded of the close relationship between QCYC and RBYC. As part of their 60th …

Lady Nelson Trophy Race - November 19th
|
The Lady Nelson Trophy was donated by Past Commodore A. W. Finlay (1946/47) to encourage yachts on the RBYC register to compete in long-distance overnight racing around Port Phillip. In recent years the interest in this type of racing has greatly diminished. As a result, Sailing Committee is seeking to regenerate interest in racing for the trophy by introducing a race …

Many of you are often looking for crew to help you get on the water for racing. With the club Sign On App we are able to help you connect with those looking to sail and boats looking for crew using a feature call Crew Matching. After a blustery 40 knot plus Friday, the wind moderated for the start on Saturday to 17 knots W at RBYC's tower. Jaffa, Ryujin and Alien were quick off the mark heading for the West Channel pile 13. BKT Jamhu and Its A Privilege got in the groove as the wind increased to around 20-24 knots with a touch of North in the predominantly Westerly. Its a Privilege was first across the line in just under 3 hours with BKT fairly close behind. Aquacadabra achieved a creditable 2nd on handicap. QCYC would like to thank the RBYC sailing management Colin and Chad for organising the Brighton side of the Annual Race with the towering assistance of Peter Austin and Murray Cowdell.
