There are still a number of owners of kayaks, paddle boards and surf ski owners that need to come forward and let us know what property is theirs so that they can be issued a tag. Kayaks etc without tags will be getting moved in the coming weeks so those who do not claim their equipment will no longer have easy access. Please contact the Sailing Office to confirm if this applies to you.

BYS WOMEN’S SPORTSBOAT REGATTA – ENTRY OPEN

On the field: Brisbane won a close game over St Kilda on Friday night at Marvel Stadium by 15 points. The Saints made the game interesting with 4 late goals in the third term to take a 5 point lead at the final change, but could not manage a major score in the final term as the Lions steadied. On Saturday the Western Bulldogs kept their finals' hopes alive with a very narrow win over GWS by 5 points. North Melbourne fought very hard in Ben Cunnington's return match but Adelaide piled on the pressure in the final term to record a 29-point win. Fremantle beat their crosstown rivals WCE by 4 goals and Geelong locked up the top spot on the ladder with a solid 60-point win over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.

The Saturday night match between Melbourne-Carlton at the MCG was an absorbing contest. A win for the Blues would have assured them a finals' berth for the first time in a decade and when they held an 8-point lead beyond the 30-minute mark in the final term they looked to be home. It wasn't to be, however, as Melbourne got out of jail late with 2 goals in the final two minutes of the game to snatch a 5-point victory. Carlton players and supporters were crestfallen. If the Bulldogs defeat Hawthorn next week and the Blues lose to arch-rivals Collingwood, Carlton's season will be over - having been in the top 8 and sometimes the top 4 for the entire season, that will be a bitter pill. (Note: in 1977 Carlton was in the top 5 all season but 2 losses to finish the home-away matches saw them drop back to 6th and miss the finals that season).

In the Sunday games, Richmond assured themselves a spot in this year's finals with a thumping 61-point win over Hawthorn. Collingwood's 11-game winning streak ended when they lost to the Sydney Swans at the SCG by 27 points. While the Swans played really well, the 'Pies were missing both Jordan de Goey and Jack Ginnivan in this game. The Swans moved up to second place on the ladder with this win. Port Adelaide recorded a huge 84-point win over Essendon in the late game. The Power set up their win by kicking 7 goals to nil in the second quarter.

We have 2 winners of a $20.00 dining credit at RBYC to be awarded to John Naughton and Rockinghorseroad - both these tipsters were equal closest on the margin amongst those who tipped 9 winners.
