This was a family favourite dish growing up, mum always use to make this dish in winter and when I was old enough I then began cooking this dish with her. This rich broth filled with chunks of meat and vegetables is a great winter warmer, best accompanied by some crusty bread. It's been a wintry few days in Melbourne, with big winds making the temperature feel colder than it actually is.
On the field: the round started with a close game between Richmond-Sydney. The Swans had a 3-goal break at halftime, but the Tigers reeled them in during the second half. Deep into time-on, there was only a point the difference, but Richmond booted two very late majors to make the margin 13 points in their favor at the final siren. In the Friday night game, Collingwood trailed the Western Bulldogs by as much as 22 points in the second quarter before rallying in the second half to record a 2-goal victory
