2023-2024 Season Skippers Briefing

With the new season fast approaching it's time to get ready for the annual skippers briefing. This is a compulsory event for all skippers to attend of the OTB, One Design and Keelboats fleets. If you are unable to attend yourself you can send a representative to attend one of the two sessions we are holding on your behalf.
There are two sessions to choose from, 6th or 13th september. The session will be from 6.30 - 8pm.

M.O.B Lecture 20th September

Skippers are required to adhere to the MOB requirements of the club. We are putting on a lecture which will be very useful for all those sailing on the bay and we encourage skippers and crew to attend. If the skipper is unable to attend then they may nominate a crew member to attend on their behalf. If you have done a SSSC in the last twelve months then you do not have to attend but are welcome to. Please visit for more details of what is required in regards to MOB at .https://rbyc.org.au/sailing/sailing-documents/#man-overboard-mob
This session is open to all members but as seating will be limited skippers and crew will be given priority.

Boat Insurance

Many boats have not supplied a current insurance certificate or their current one has expired. This is a requirement for keeping a boat at RBYC and is required from all fleets (OTB, One Design and Keelboat). The easy way to do this is send it via the below upload link.
https://rbyc.org.au/form-file-uploader/

Safety Compliance for racing

All skippers are required to submit a self-audited Safety Compliance Form for their vessel before the start of the season. ( 6th October). Please check what the requirements are for each race via the calendar and send the appropriate completed form to the sailing office via the File Upload option.
RBYC will be starting independent auditing from October or you can contact an auditor directly yourself to have this arranged. Please visit the below link for full details on what is required

We are quickly approaching the end of the season. Competition for positions 5 through 8 is particularly keen. Similarly, our tipping competition is very close.

On the field: the Western Bulldogs played Essendon on Friday night in this round's opening game. The Bombers started quickly with a goal in the first 18 seconds and looked the better side in the opening term. They led by 11 points at quarter time, but from that point on, the Doggies took over. They rallied strongly in the second quarter and in the final term, kicked away from Essendon to win by 41 points.
